You sure you just don't want to sell it to me?? ;-0 Congrats...you have the Midas touch, it seems!

Well, I really did not want to sell the last one, but the reality of three kids in college kept making me not appreciated this big giant brick.

Of course, I missed it as soon as it was gone. :tears:

Then another one magically appeared. It must have meant to be?

After a thorough cleaning of the transport, and all the pots and such, it seems to have some noise in one channel. I'll assume this is mostly OCD so I'm going to start there.

The auto azimuth seems to be stuck, which was a problem on my last deck, and it just took a new azimuth belt (old one took a set). I assume this one has the same problem?

Now I just need to find that cap database I made for my last one...

Impressive! Congratulations!

Yes, if anything the ZXL is impressive to look at. They also have a great feel to them. Large servo controls, sliders etc. You just have to make sure you have a large parking spot for them. Kind of like a semi-truck size parking spot!

Shoot - I think I need one of these... seriously. I need to add one to the stable. Certainly would help to have a beast like this keep the others in line.

Here is a gold plated one for sale not that far from me. Only €2000 starting bid :D

Recently saw a silver one with starting bid of €1000 but can't find the ad.

Yes, the limited is double cool. Not just bling either. All the inside aluminum components are anodized black, the heads and other components were special selected as best of the batch. Was stupid expensive back in the day...

Limited beware.

The limited offered in Belgium is a scam. it was recently on ebay from 3 different sellers from Poland and England. It had been genuinely for sale in the USA for very long time.......but was sold.

We used Nakamichi cassette decks at the CBS tape manufacturing facility in Indiana. We had several models including the 1000. We also had the 700, Z628 and one Dragon. I purchased a BX-1 for my system because I liked the 3-head system and after using, calibrating and repairing other Nakamichi decks, I felt others weren't up to their standards.

Congrats on the 1000. It brings back a lot of good memories.

Just ordered 246 capacitors. All the orange caps and electrolytics will be replaced...

Mossfred, looks like you are a fellow owner of a TC-880-2?

Hi Stoutblock, yes I am! I wonder how many of the supposed 500 are owned by members of this and T/H sites?
A kit of caps for the ZXL is available from Ben Stratford, saves a bit of hunting!

I only know of a few...

That would take all the fun out of it!

Is STILL stupid expensive in this day! I would have to have massively disposable income to purchase one of those.

Or get lucky! I've never had a limited drop in my lap but both the ZXLs I've owned were very reasonable to purchase. Of course, I had to spend dozens of hours on them to get them right.

Speaking of such...

Started the rebuild. Amazing how quickly it is going compared to the first time I was into one of these.

They just don't make em like this anymore...

Wow, looks awesome.
I just checked at the vintage cassette site on the msrp's on these and almost spit out my drink. $3800 and $6000 for the limited. Damn!
I was wondering if anyone knows how many limited models were made? Looks like it was only in production for a year or two.
