Nakamichi 480 not recording on right channel

The original deck is now happy with the replacement head. So it's basically done now, finally, except for a top panel that needs painting.

So now on to fixing the parts deck. It obviously needs a head replacement, and it still needs new belts & power caps.

But now I also just noticed the replacement deck also has "blown" line inputs. It seems excessive input voltage from something has damaged the recording inputs. It has extremely low input level on both inputs. Level slider pots must nearly be maxed out to get to 0dB! Should be approximately centered.

Also the input is very distorted! A sine wave sounds like a distorted saw wave. Music is similarly distorted and sounds like a weak AM station. :(

What's the likely suspect that could easily get damaged in the recording circuit, that's still audible on input monitoring (only 2-head). Would it be the Dolby ICs or would it be some capacitor?

dankik:
I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on what could be damaged in the recording circuit. Thx.
