Nakamichi Dragon

Hey Thomas, I just read about this latest acquisition of yours. The Dragon has been the one grail piece which has always eluded me. Congrats on getting a working unit along with the other pieces. I think you're going to be happy with everything, that is as long as you are allowed to stay married LOL.

Since the last time we talked on the phone, there's been an update to that score I made a couple weeks ago. I may have mentioned that along with the Mac amp and preamp, there was a Revox turntable and tape deck. Well I did a little research, and the tape deck is the model B-215 S. Evidently it was the best one Revox made, and several reviewers have put it on par with the Dragon. I even checked on value and a parts unit recently sold for 1500. Mind you this is the S version made in the last couple years of the 215 run. The retail on it in 1990 was $2,800. Oh and the one I got is a fully working unit and sounds magnificent! I think you should bring your Dragon by my place and we'll do a comparison on my main system. May the best deck win!

Ron, That's really good new about the Revox deck. You've made a couple of 'Scores of a lifetime' lately. Still waiting for my McIntosh Score. All things in good time. It would be very interesting to hear the similarities/differences between the two decks. The Nak is currently getting shipped out to Willy Herman for restoration so may need to wait a bit for the 'battle of the decks'. Besides, I've got to get a line on some quality cassettes now. Haven't looked at buying tapes in decades. Stay safe down there in Anchor Town, you guys are rocking the covid #'s. :music:

Hey Thomas, wow you going big on that Dragon deck! I have some NOS High bias cassette tapes I'll set aside for you. Yes Anchorage is expectedly higher per capita with the covid cases, but that doesn't stop many for being really upset with mayor Ethan over the current 30-day shut down. Anyway if you're still working in Girdwood, stay safe passing through and feel free to stop by.

Figured it's a keeper, so might as well get the most out of it. Must have stretched belts and misc. other age related issues by now. Trying to get down there to trim out the electrical on that 3 story 5000 sq.ft. house. They now want all the lighting Iphone/Ipad operated and all devices color coordinated to the individual rooms paint schemes. Some people have too much money. My wife is still flying down for a few days, probably not enough time for a train ride this time but will try to do something fun. Really wanted to go to Double Muskee for dinner but that isn't sounding plausible now.
