Nakamichi MB-8 loading issue (CD player)

I have a recently acquired MB-8 Nakamichi CD player. Sounds amazing, but has a loading issue. It will not close the dust cover without me briefly holding it closed. I think a little plastic tab broke off the cover (found small plastic piece), anyway once loaded the disc sounds better than any other player I’ve heard. This effectively makes this a one disc player instead of 5. Wondering if anyone has one of these and if it could be repaired?
