Nakamichi RD-601

Hello, I just got hold of a 1987 Nakamichi RD-601 mobile tuner cassette deck with a nakamichi cd changer.
I coupled it in to my car yesterday (1987 Toyota) and it works, though i will need an amplifier. I have a few questions regarding it.

It remembers all settings and such and displays time when turned off. The only thing i cannot get to work is the backlight in the display/buttons. When I turn on light on car nothing happens. Red cable is coupled to ignition, yellow to battery and black to ground. Does anyone here know why it doesn't work?

Also on a side note, how do I set the time on it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regarding your wiring . . . I believe you have the red and yellow switched. The red cable should be a constant power source which should keep your stations locked when you turn the ignition off. IF the yellow wire is the "power antenna", it will turn on amps and crossovers if you want to add them. At this point you shouldn't have the yellow wire attached to any power source!!!! That could be your problem.

She has the red and yellow connected correctly.

OP - is there a “DIMMER” input? If so, connect this to the dash lamp curcuit.
