Nakamichi SR-4A Receiver - Problem with FM Stereo

I just purchased a used SR-4A receiver. I'm having a problem with FM stereo. The receiver seems to find and lock in FM stations OK (at first it appeared to be locking at .1 over the true frequency), but virtually never can get the sound to come out in stereo, or get the stereo lamp to light. Once in a great while the Stereo lamp will flicker, and I can tell the sound "flickers" in stereo simultaneously. (When I tested this SR-4A, I had my SR-3A setting right beside it, and it had no problem locking stations into stereo using the same antenna.) (The SR-4A plays CD's in stereo fine when a CD player is hooked up to the CD terminals on its back panel.) Any suggestions? Easy fix? Thank you.

The bad news is that it is getting harder to find people who work on tuners. I had a very similar problem with my Nakamichi 430. Depending on your location, and willingness to ship, we may be able to recommend someone. Radiox tuners is in Michigan; see this page for information on them and some others: https://www.fmtunerinfo.com/index.html#repairs. The guy who bought my 430 published a fix, based on a Nakamichi service bulletin. You may be able to find it here: https://fmtuners.groups.io/g/main/messages?expanded=1 Good luck! You might want to share your question on groups.io or the Tuners forum here; this forum is more for value questions.
