I have a complete Nakamichi System 1 in the rack. I am curious about the value of this set? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would list the components and their condition (scratches, discoloration etc). Without that, you can't really give an estimated value.

The cassette player seems to be the easiest/most common component to find. The rack itself is even harder to find than the individual components. A complete system in the rack is a relative rarity, and nice to have. Don't know about the market value, though.

As has been stated, much of it will depend upon which components you have and their condition. There were 2 versions of this system, both of which used the SR-100 rack.

The "basic" System 1 was comprised of:
  • DS-200 Program Timer
  • 600 Cassette Console
  • 610 Control Preamp
  • 620 Power Amp
  • 630 FM Tuner / Preamp
  • RM-610 Remote-Control (Optional)
There was also a High Powered version. This version eliminated the 610 Control Preamp and added a second 620 Power Amp along with the BA-150 Bridging Adapter. This version raised total output from 100wpc to 350wpc.

I got $1000 for one I had that needed extensive repair and was sold completely disclosed as parts repair.

Just out of curiosity how long ago was that? Last year I had trouble selling one on CL for less than half that. The only thing wrong with mine was the tape deck needed to be serviced.

Wow! I'd have to say that you got very lucky. I've seen fully functional System One's going for as little as ~$650 fairly recently. I'd definitely class them as a very niche market piece. Damn cool looking, but it can be difficult to find the right buyer. Just my opinion mind you.

About 4 months ago maybe a little longer. Had them on ebay all seperate auctions including the rack and timer. I discounted shipping a little bit but was still expensive. One buyer bought everything at auction. Pieced out they are worth about that. All together Id say in the $700 range working is a good end user price.

This one has:
timer
600 cassette
610 preamp
620 power amp

This set is complete in the rack. one key plate is missing on the cassette. There are a few minor scratches but it is in excellent condition. It has been covered in storage.

i know this rig works fine because I dubbed sound from my video camera onto a cassette and it worked great.

Question, if I want to upload photos for you to see, where do I put them?

It almost sounds like you are offering them for sale, which is against the rules here. That's what barter town is for. To post pictures just hit the "Manage Attachments" button. If I can do it anyone can!

That system in the rack is an interior decorator's dream, IMO. I didn't know about the high powered version. That would be uber cool!

My wife' former boss had son who had all these electronic components. He passed away and I am in the process of evaluating them. I am not selling them here but I would like to know what they are worth.

I am learning about them piece by piece. I know this one works and seems to be a high quality item, as is the other piece I investigated. I stumbled into Audiokarma by accident and have discovered that it is loaded with honest info for even a green amateur.

Any information is much appreciated, I was trying to find out what I have judging by the condition.
