Nakamichi TA-4A

I recently acquired this reciever for $300. It is in mint condition with remote! I have to say this unit has a beautiful soundstage reminiscent of a tandberg separate system I heard long ago on a pair of Thiels. Probably better, clean clear, transparent ,effortlessly powers my L-7 JBL’s. I Also have a SR-3A which is very competent with killer phono stage. Standalone the TA is just fine, but out of curiosity I put my 5500 ADCOM connected to pre-outs and wow!!! Mind boggling performance. In summary, if you come across this reciever, it is outstanding in every way shape and form- happy listening

I have the alternate top model, the SR-4A Stasis receiver with less power than yours and made in Japan. I don't think I will ever sell it. It has the best variable loudness feature I've ever used and still sounds very, very good. Once you perfectly dial in variable loudness for low-level listening, it takes performance up a notch further. I usually recap or try and improve all used equipment that passes through my hands but never felt the urge with this one. It is that good and I can imagine the TA-4A would be similar, but with even more power.

i've got a ta-1a and it is a solid little receiver.

super impressive bottom end for what it is.

i'd like to get a hold of a 3a or 4a but a broken one has not turned up for the right price.

And I listen through a PA-7A MKII & CA-7A ....... the mother of them all.
I actually was looking for those! Looking , looking ‍♂️, prices through the roof! The Sr-3A is what originally blew my ADCOM 5500/500II combo away, it was the preamp as I suspected, very dull , no midrange or beautiful highs like Nak, I got it broken on fleabay, fixed but technician friend said someone was in there hacking away with solder gun trying to fix‍♂️, anyhow taking it out of system was the trick! To summarize SR led me to TA series which is splendid for $300, plus if you need even more juice you can put your favorite amp on preouts.
Love Nakamichi, just picked up a Bx-300,
Happy Listening my friend!
