Pop quiz for the speaker enthusiasts!

There's an estate sale in my area tomorrow, they posted pics, including the two below. I know, with 100% certainty, that I don't need any more speakers, but, I can't help myself, so I'm curious if these have any value and would be worth picking up if the price is right?

The home owner seems to have a lot of nice "stuff" but I couldn't identify these via a Googs search, so thanks in advance if you can name these speakers.

I wonder if the speakers in the second picture might be 1973 Hartley Zodiac 300s. The 73s had a similar looking grill though I've only seen one picture of them previously. Later years had different grills. Grills were not, to my knowledge anyway, removable in the 1973 models.
However, it would be unusual to see these on the West Coast.
 
Sooo, I guess I'm getting up early to head to the sale!

A strong back wouldn't hurt either. In the unlikely case those are Hartley Zodiac 300s that made it to the West Coast you may have found a hidden gem, though the Zodiacs really start to sing with a tweeter upgrade.
 
Whelp, I got to the estate sale an hour and half before it started, number 3 in line! My goal had shifted from snagging the behemoth 1348's to the mega amplifier, and by golly, I got it! I had no idea this amp would be so heavy, thankful it came with the manual and speaker connecters. Plugged it in when I got home, heard the relay kick over quickly and it came to life, wow, this thing is huge! The previous owner fashioned some feet for it as seen in the pictures, will test for sound, etc, soon.

By this time someone had grabbed the 1348's, so I picked up the other mystery speakers, eager to plug them in as well. Cases look great, grills are cool, tone controls different for both and I wonder why the speaker terminals would read 8 ohms on one and 16 on the other? Anyhow, I did em, thankful they came home with me!

Spent $100 on the amp and $65 on the speakers, happy with the prices, excited to dig in. Thanks for your enthusiasm and assistance here, if anyone can school me on the speakers please chine in!

I think you did well on both counts, provided that Heathkit was properly built in the first place. Definite score.
Speakers are definitely not Zodiac 300s, but look worthwhile considering the cabinets. As those ohm ratings look to be chalk I wouldn't vouch to their significance, please open them up and give us a better look. Having the terminal wires running through a small hole makes me wonder if there may have been some modifications done at some point.
 
Since it was a Heathkit amp I am speculating the speakers are home builds or a kit. Any speculation on what may be inside? I am thinking Philips are a strong possibility. Just need to take out the slot screw driver there :D:D:D
 
Looks like some sort of a fullrange driver. It could be anything from Heathkit, EV, Knight, University, Goodmans or the best case scenario would be Altec or Tannoy.

Pulled the back cover off of one, looks like June of 1969, good call @gogofast, I'm assuming this is the full range driver you suggested?

Thanks, @nolasally, appreciate the ID of the drivers! At $65 for the pair they were worth taking a chance on, I'll likely just sell them but I'm sure digging the grills, ha!
 
Yeah, Calrad tx12. Not a common driver but not worth too much - yet, I bet they sound great in those boxes.
