Thought I'd try some thing here, see if it takes off. Someone submits some lyrics, then we try to guess what song album and artist.

I'll go first;

Hhhmmm, huge temptation to cheat here, and use a Google search. Most song lyrics of the modern era are online...

Okay, that kind of spoiled the fun. :sigh: The next few lines say:

You lost your heart, when you lost your nerve
Maybe you lost your grip on that first curve
You used to talk about bein' free
Why, you're so tied up you can't even breathe


I attended a radio-broadcast recording of a "name that tune" and music-trivia competition, where they would throw out lyrics and snippets of songs and obscure music-related questions, and it was a LOT of fun! Amazing what some people know, and how what people know best varies with their age and interests. Just don't know how you can sift out the honest folk from the "cheaters", when doing it online.


Maybe we should put people on the "honor system", and trust them all to be truthful about whether they KNEW the answer or not? I'd like to think that most active AKers wouldn't "cheat", but we'll never know the difference if some do. [I admit to not knowing this one, and Googling it! I've heard the song, but not often enough nor recently enough to place the lyrics. ]

I think it is bound to lead to at least some cheating - easily guessed songs will lead to people upping the ante to the extent that the thread may stop due to submissions being too obscure.

It's a nice idea and could be a lot of fun - I for one, am very poor at this so I would probably just spectate, as I would have to google just about everything - I do like quirky unusual lyrics though...
