Napster shutting down on Dec 16th.

isnt it crazy how more people listen to music regularly these days and theres more ways to listen to music yet theyre fightin to make a buck selling the stuff.

youre better off selling music hardware or software than selling music.

i didnt even know napster still existed. if i did i still wouldnt have paid for it. napster was free before, im not payin for it now. i know its not their fault but still, that was a dead name the second you had to pay for it.

that being said i dont pay to stream any music. i like pandora or finding the few good FM stations out there and streaming them.
 
In Canada IMHO the best internet radio with decent sound is Jango . give it a listen . No BS just works . since us Canadians are not allowed to listen to Pandora and many other internet radio site . meh !!
 
I remember Napster from when it first came online....It was cool for sure. But I always was scared about the whole PtP sharing issue and copyright laws.
When Zune came on in 2006, I jumped for joy! A real subscription service that was legal and by a well known company, and important for me that the artists get some of the money for online downloading.
I have been using the Zune Marketplace ever since and have never been disappointed. For me it is a great way to manage my collection and I can explore all the music I like. The Zune Music Pass subscription is the best, all you can download for one monthly price. Yes they are DRM protected files but you can play the files on up to 3 computers I believe. And right now the songs can only be synced to a Zune player.....Although I expect this to change in the future since Zune devices are no longer being made.
There are many options out there for downloading and internet radio.....Zune Marketplace just works best for me, and I know it is available in Canada. You can download the software for free and then decide on a subscription later.

If you are into exploring different genres of music, I would suggest it.

Now it's Rdio. I guess I can stop holding my breath for that Squeezebox app. Here we go again....
 
I did not even know Napster was still around. I have a hard drive full of stuff I downloaded back in the late 90s from them that I still listen to
 
When I saw the title of this my first thought was "I thought that shut down years ago", then I saw the post date.
