I had the pleasure of working with Nat on a nationally syndicated radio program in the 1980s. The New York Jazz scene or Civil Liberties, he had such a passionate voice. Good bye Mr. Hentoff.

I grew up reading his work in Down Beat I will miss him.
Is Jazz Black Music?

One of the greats. I used to read his columns in The Village Voice years ago. I learned a lot from him on a whole host of subjects. One of the few jazz writers also, that I dug.

Rest in peace...

What a full and amazing career he had. Of course, his words live on forever. Travel well Nat...

Nice remembrance from his friend and fellow jazz critic Marc Myers

A interesting quote:

I always remember what Merle Haggard told me. Merle knew a lot about jazz and could play it when the venue was right. Merle once said. "Sometimes I get so far down that nothing will pick me up except music."
