National Panasonic RS-269US too fast?

hi all,

i recently got this nice looking National Panasonic RS-269US and
while testing i noticed it played way too fast, almost 2x too fast..

is this normal? is this because of the US model and different voltages? (im in europe btw)
or is it the motor that is of?..

My guess is that (due to a defect) the pinch roller is not engaging the capstan shaft in play mode. Is it???

sorry for the late headsup.
just too busy with other things!
anyway you were right!

It is indeed the pinchroller not engaging.
When i put pressure on it manually by hand the tape plays at correct speed.
see photo.
I cannot find how this plastic handle is being held in place, it comes in when press play but it doesnt go far enough and doesnt apply resistance to the tape.
Do you have more insights?..

hmm, all the metal springs seem to function and are in use.
i cant find one going to the plastic handle (pinch roller).
what mechanic is forcing the pinch roller in place here?

Do remove the pinch roller , then it may be possible to see if the plastic is cracked at the underside of the pinch roller arm (typical error )

hi and thanks for the reply.

i tried getting the pinchroller out but didnt succeed.
without breaking some plastic it is firmly in place.
the metallic pin is also secured so i dont see how to remove it.
hmmmm...
