NCAA Football

Been watching a few of the college football games in my office on Saturdays. Seems like every game I watch lately, they talk about someone who has been suspended or kicked off the team for whatever reason.

Sounds like they're prepping them for the NFL.:smoke:

True, but some of the NCAA rules are pretty petty (e.g., getting free tatoos), whereas the NFL has heretofore covered up for the (often lurid) behavior of their miscreants. All in all, it's a pretty sad state of affairs.

You also have to remember that in college they have 128 teams in just the FBS compared to the NFL which has 32? teams.

Watching a bit of the Louisville-Florida St. game. They've spent the last 5 minutes talking about ANOTHER FL player who is in the spotlight. He's being "investigated" on a domestic violence complaint by his pregnant girlfriend and her mother. He is also going to be questioned about a drug deal gone bad.

Don't want those things interfere with him playing.

They could wait and talk about that crap on Sports Center or whatever. I listen to the game on radio and watch it on teevee.

Office work this morning, so I turned on the TV for some NCAA football. Both games I've seen so far started with talking about key players who have been suspended, and not for bad grades.

Sad state of affairs.

Streaming the Fordham - Bucknell game right now.

A barbecue in the end zone flared up, flame on, and smoked up the field so bad they had to call a time out on the game. The fire extinguishers would put it out, then it would flare up again.

Huge discount on hot dogs and burgers right now!

I know some teams would do most anything for a win ...

Mark Cuban in a Rolling Stone interview:

You don't go from the minors or college to the pros and all of the sudden become a spouse abuser, or any of a number of other serious personal issues. Those traits don't suddenly appear when you make a pro roster. They were there in college. They were probably there prior to college. Yet we as leagues ignore those issues when we sign and draft players. That has to change. We need to participate in programs that publicly identify those athletes that have issues, and not allow them to play unless they go through rigorous counseling.

12 Baylor ........ 48
15 Oklahoma ... 14

Is Baylor that good, or is Oklahoma that over rated??

Grist for the rumor mill - lot of talk about Bob Stoops moving to Michigan. Great record, but he hasn't been able to finish, and the Sooner faithful are getting restless.

Wolverine fans are waaaay beyond restless ... you can almost smell the tar cooking for the feathering when you drive by the Big House ... doubt they stop there if Hoke drops today's (ho-hum) nail biter at Northwestern.

OU(sucks) was overrated at the beginning of the season only because of the beatdown of Alabama in the bowl game.

Baylor has enough weapons to find a way to beat you but may be somewhat overrated because of a powder-puff out-of-conference schedule.

Talk down here is of Stoops going to Florida...

After shutting out two top-10 teams in consecutive weeks, Arkansas just couldn't figure out what to do with the Tigers in the 4th.

2013: picked 6th in the SEC East, got to Atlanta.
2014: picked 4th in the SEC East, got to Atlanta.

And the SEC crowd didn't think the Tigers would fit in. :D

Operation SEC Chaos is moving along nicely. Auburn looks like they might be able to hold up their end of the bargain, though it's a fight.
