Im working on a radio here with a NE48 neon bulb being used as a voltage regulator. It is a neon bulb with 2 contacts at the bottom. I do not know if the brass bayonet base itself constitutes a 3rd contact. My question is this: Since the bayonet base can be turned either way, does the bulb itself have an anode and a cathode? Or can either of the 2 contacts on the bottom BECOME the cathode, whereas either way one becomes the cathode just because of the way its plugged into its socket? Thank you.
