NEC CD-530 CD player... any good?

I found an NEC CD-530 CD player for ~$20. I'm looking for a CD player that sounds good but for a budget price (I'm 15 and unfortunately don't have a lot of cash...). Any opinions on this CD player? Should I buy it? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Today I found a Nakamichi OMS-2A for around the same price as the NEC CD-530. Any suggestions on which one to head for?
 
Can you test them out? I don't know the NECs but the older NAD decks can still sound quite good (I have a 5240). I also have a Nak OMS-2A. It is a little cranky. Left un-played for a long period of time, I was getting some channel distortion, but that went away over an hour or so and then did not return. Sometimes it is finicky about what disks it reads. The sled was reversing when I put a disk in but then that problem went away as well. The older DAC tends to accentuate higher frequencies to my ear, but still sounds good overall. The build quality overall is good, though, and it's very nice to have the headphone jack and volume control for direct listening. If you can test the Nak out and it works well and still sounds OK, it's a good buy for that price, that is about what I paid a few years ago. My favorite vintage CD deck is my Marantz CD-63 II. If you ever see one of those, go for it.

Unfortunately, I have no way of personally testing them due to both being online auctions, however, both are verified to be working.
 
nec is good stuff in my opinion . have just looked at a picture of it and going from that it looks ok at the price . i know looks arent everything. to get any really noticeable difference in sound quality you might have spend a lot more .

Spending more is obviously something I'll need to do in the future, lol. I just want to get something that sounds good and at the right price for the money I have atm. I happened to come across these two players and am just looking for some opinions on them or possibly suggestions for other decks where my money would be better spent.
 
Nakamichi has a reputation to keep . if it was me i would be looking at why it would be better . i strongly suspect it may well be a better sound produced . but saying that i have never compared as never had a Nakamichi . just never seem to see them over here .
 
In many ways they are very similar in sonics/build. Nakamichi has the brand recognition, but I am partial to the NEC styling. Either way you can't go wrong.
