Need 4Uf cap...4.7uF close enough ???

I want to re-cap my KLH 32s. I have not opened them up,but info on the web says they use a single 4uF cap . I was in town today and could only find 4.7uF caps at radio Shack. Wondering if that is close enough or should I order 4uF caps ? The back of the package says : For speaker crossover,4KHZ at 8 ohms.

Why not lay hands on some 2mf caps and parallel them?

Solen Fast Caps are 3.9uf....now that's.....'close enough'.

I paralleled a pair of 2uF caps for a pair of Twenty-Threes I just did and it worked just fine. Heck, KLH used to do it on the Sixes, Seventeens and Twenties, paralleling both sides of a dual 4uF cap to make it into 8uF.

I'd have to say that 4.9uF isn't really close enough. That's about 25% off spec.

Yes, it's off-spec and in the wrong direction - it will lower your tweeter's crossover point - perhaps not fataly, but most likely with increased distortion.
