Need a little help with a Nakamichi CDC-3a CDP...

Hey, guys.

I picked up this CDP at a thrift the other day, but I can't get it to spin up the CDs. Do any of you guys know about this CDP?

So I put in the CD, then it'll slide it back to the spindle, and the spindle will give it just the slightest little turn, like maybe 40 degrees. Then it just slips it back out with no error message or anything.

Can anybody help me out with this? I'd love to get this unit working and in the living room system.

Hey, late reply, but I have the SAME exact issue with my Nakamichi CDC-4A. Did you fix the problem or is it still a problem? I opened everything up, took the whole laser assembly apart, but I still have no idea what the deal is. Possibly defective laser? It might be the motor, but I'm not sure.
