need a new Technics Spindle!

4,661 post later, what do you think of the place ?

It's alright. :)

I always get nervous seeing old threads I started or posts I made. Nothing inflammatory or too stupid so I guess this one's OK.

FWIW, the changer ended up having "issues" and has since become my platter for wood gluing. I think I ended up using an old BIC spindle to get it going as well. Something similar to this (taken from a Google image search):

A net search of "BIC turntable spindle" will work. It drops into the spindle hole cleanly and you can even decide if you like pointy side or round side. I think I paid less than $2 for one on the bay. Mfrench's solution is much more elegant and DIY but I'm a lazy, lazy man.

Sure. The spindle is 25mm high. The base has outer dimensions of 16mm, and inner measurement is 14mm. The lower (wider) section is 12mm high, and the top part of the spindle is 13mm high, and 7mm across.

Hope this helps.

Rob, check this out....my friend turned this and it turned out great the first time with only your dims....thanks for the info and it turns with the platter. If anyone needs something like this let me know.

How can I purchase a single play spindle? I need one for my Technics SL-3350 and there hard to find.

I was searching for the part number for a new spindle, and came across the thread. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me!:
Order at Technics SL-1650 online which arrived damaged (i know, i know, of course it did). The spindle was bent about 20 degrees, but still in place under the dust cover.
I was trying to figure out what happened to it, but I think dodog's original post solves the mystery for me. The platter must have worked loose and bent it.

My only question is this: did you ever get it play in stacking/multi-play mode after that happened, or did the internal mechanics get too messed by all that pressure required to bend the spindle? I'm not sure whether I should buy a new stacking spindle for it, or whether that's just throwing good money after bad.
