Need advice/info/specs on Realistic STA-860

Hi all,

This is my first post but I've been reading for quite a while.

I'm about to take possession of a Realistic STA-860 receiver. Can anybody give me the specs? I'm particularly interested in watts per channel.

I've got some newer speakers that call for 40-250 wpc at 4ohms. Their sensitivity is 91. Wondering if the realistic will drive them.

Thanks in advance.

Stand-by. I will try to find the catalog page to post for you as soon as I get a few minutes. It may be a day or so longer.

Realistic information is hard to come by. However, I did find information on the STA-870, which is more than likely very close to your model, right here.

At 65 watts RMS, that can drive nearly every speaker well, if not excessively. For your general information, speaker watt ratings are essentially meaningless, but the ohm rating isn't. I own a Realistic STA-47, and it can handle 4 ohm speakers, but some stereo receivers don't, most famously Marantz. Realistic made some quality stuff, so don't let your find go! :music:

Thanks for all the help guys. This particular receiver was my fathers. Mom found it in a closet and asked me if she should discard it. I said NO WAY. I'm going to pick it up Saturday and take it to the "mechanic" for a checkup.

I'll post some photos when I get it.

That's as handsome as any vintage receiver out there, IMO.

I had an STA-870 for awhile, similar to the 860 but not as many features. The expander circuit was neat. Not sure how it works, but it did make a sound difference which I liked.

Hay everyone, I'm reading these posts about the Realistic STA-860, and they all seem very favorable. However I noticed the post dates I'm reading are all 5 to 10 years old, and I'm ready to pull the tiger on one in a few hours time. So my question to anyone who still owns a Realistic STA-860 would be, how is it holding up? Please advise, and thanks to everyone here in AK land for all of your past and present in put, very, very useful, and cool

I know it's a late reply but mine still works great. I had to recap the expander circuit board and add some resistors to bring the bias into spec but other than that, it still works great.
