Need advice on AR 9's

Hi everyone,

I just need some advice from all you audio fans. I have a line on a pair of decent AR 9 speakers at about $1K a pair.

Do you think this is to steep for this pair of speakers? I have a pair of
AR 90's that I like. I am just wondering if I will really be gaining anything to significant other than a little more base out of these. The mids, mid highs, and the tweeter is supposedly identical in these two models. The AR 90's have two 10inch woofers and the AR 9's have two 12inch woofers on each side. Also this pair is recapped where my AR 90's still need recapping. I am just thinking would it just make more sence to recap my AR 90's and be happy or go for the top dog.

All opinions appreciated.

They do sound similar to me.

You can always go for the top dog & sell your AR90s.
That is exactly what I did.
 
I have the 90s. The only reason I would recommend the 9s are because theyare recapped. Personally if it was me I would keep the 90s and recap myself but I am anal about things so thats just me.
I have yet to experience lack of bass - they are good but may not shake the walls as much like the bigger 9s. They do shake walls though. You can add subs at a later date if you crave more. Infinity SSW subs come to mind as they are sealed designs too.
 
If you have the $'s and always wanted 9's go for it. Keep your 90's and you're not overly impressed sell the 9's and recap the 90's.

I'd get details on the recap. Not all parts or recappers are the same :nono:
