Hi AK buds,
I have some annoying buzzing that’s noticeable with headphone listening on my Pioneer SX-750 when my turntable is selected with the phono setting. My TT is a Denon DP-300F. This TT does not have any metal on the exterior nor does it have a ground connection on the back or bottom. Apparently the ground for this TT goes through the tone arm? Both power plugs for the receiver and turntable are connected to a power strip plugged into a wall outlet. I’ve tried doing both power plugs directly to the wall and one in the power strip and one not. Also tried flipping the receivers power connector both ways.
Out of curiosity I connected a ground wire to the back of my SX-750’s ground plug and pinched the other end of the ground wire with my finger and thumb. The buzzing disappeared. So this leads me to believe it’s definitely a grounding issue. The problem I’m having is figuring out how to properly ground my receiver. I tried wrapping the the other end of the ground wire to a screw and taping it and that did nothing. Tried a few other various pieces of metal and the buzzing persists. Only way I can get the buzzing to stop is by me holding the ground wire between my finger and thumb and I shouldn’t be a ground haha.
I’m open to any suggestions here. Should note I live in an apartment and don’t have access to a water pipe near my record setup so not sure what else I can do.
