Need help identifying Grado cartridge

I have been trying to identify the pictured Grado cartridge for some time now, but can't seem to find an exact match anywhere online. I was told the cartridge was a Grado Reference cart, and have found postings saying the RS I on the bottom stood for Reference Series but haven't found any specs. The cartridge is gold in color with a G on the front, and the aforementioned RS I on the bottom.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated as I would like to know the recommended tracking pressure. I have used it at 1.25g since acquiring it but I wonder if i can get better sound with a different force. Thanks for the help!

Have you emailed Grado? They're pretty helpful with matters like this, and you'd be getting the answer directly from the source.

not sure about the exact cart but 1.5 + would be a better setting until you confirm your exact cart VTA. Most of their carts have that as the tracking weight. Have you contacted Grado? I am sure Marc will chime in with some more info.

I've sent them an email with the same pics as OP and same questions. Will post their response here as soon as i get it.

Just got an email response from Grado. While they didn't give me a model of cartridge, they did provide the information below. Really impressed with their quick response.

1. track at about 1.5-1.7 grams
2. load into 47kohms
3. it is a cartridge with about 4mv output.
4. VTA should be adjusted so the front of the cartridge is perpendicular to the LP

let us know if you have any further questions, happy to help

It looks skewed in the headshell too.

It is skewed a bit in the headshell. I had this cart installed and aligned by a local tech from whom I have acquired several pieces of equipment, including my turntable (a refurbished Toshiba SR-355). The TT has an S-shaped tonearm, should the cartridge not be skewed?

If it was done to align to some particular geometry, I would have expected there should have been enough adjustment room in the slots to achieve the same thing. What's your table/arm?

The RS-1 was marketed for European countries. Equiv to the Red. RS ll was equiv to the gold.

similar marketing also had the SPL-1, and SPL-2

Table is Toshiba SR-355 with what i believe to be the stock tonearm judging by pictures of others.
