Need Help!! Marantz 500 monster

I have a very small window to buy a Marantz model 500 in decent shape. It was rack mounted so there are some scratches on the sides but other then that really clean. I cannot find any info on what these are worth. Does anyone know what these amps sell for. I've heard that they have sold for up in the 3k range but i'm not going to trust one post on a forum. I know that they are a hard find and don't want to miss this opportunity but I don't want to over pay. He is asking $800 for the amp. Any input would be very appreciated. Regards, Joel

Sounds good to me! I would pay 800 bucks for something I know, when fixed up, will never be made obsolete bar many many thousands of dollars... which isn't gonna happen.
