Hello i'm new here so if it's in the wrong section of the forum please excuse me i tought it was the most appropriate on to ask into if not please move my post to the appropriate section.

So on the topics i own a SL-js1 from technics it"s been bought in 86 don't know if there difference between year's on this model so i put here for a idea of the model.

It was my dad 's turne table so i'm not super familiar on using it but i still have instruction so i guess i do the step correctly.

according to instruction put vynil on press button to release reading arm from lock position then select your vynil type 45 t or 33 and press play then arm is supposed to move to position and music start after a bit.

in my case the first step work i can reelease the arm from lock position but when selecting 45/33 and pressing play nothing happen. i'm not to sure what the issue probably some old electronic damaged with time if anyone ca give me clue or idea for repair.

ty for reading and please pardon my english as it's not my tongue language kindly Jim

Yes, better under Turntables where SL-JS1 is covered.
First, check drive belt condition; they fail with age. If still dead, determine if electronics are bad which is known to happen due to age. Unless it needs a relatively simple repair like a new cap, professional repair is probably not worth the cost.
Good Luck!

should i move it in the other section ?

yeah the belt is a new one so not coming from here if electronic is bad is it really costly ?

Hello. Moderators can move a thread to a different sub forum.

Did you try moving the tonearm manually, putting it on the vinyl?

It could be a dead motor or a motor not receiving power. You should do some electrical tests inside the unit. Can you do that?
