Need help picking a Sub for music mainly

I'm looking for a sub that I will use for listening to vinyl.
my room is small to medium size/apt/downstairs My price ceiling is $300.
I've been looking at Polk psw505,dayton sub-10 & 12,Klipsch Synergy Sub-12 and Boston Acoustics CSSUB10B. Any other rec.'s would be greatly appreciated.

Current setup:
JVC-La11 TT
Polk rti4 bookshelf spkr
harmon Kardon 3390 (going to order)

I use a Polk PSW-125 in my HT setup. It does its job well. It gets louder than I need it to & hides away pretty well. I dont have any experience with the others, & I think its probably on the low end of the list that you have there but like I said its got more than enough power to rattle the walls. The 505 has more power & a bigger woofer than the 125 too.

Gator gave very good advices - much better than the ones you were looking at.
Please don't buy the ones you mentioned ! There are better optiones out there.

I like the Monitor Audio Subs - they have a quality amp section, and the sound is nice and refined.

Elemental Designs has a couple of subs near your price, A3S-250 or A3-250, $350 shipped.

They're not pretty, as in industrial finish, but they work.

Hard for me to recommend a sub for someone in an apartment building, especially for listening to an lp in a smaller room. Some receivers had a low frequency cutoff switch (Lo Filter) to tame vibrations (aka 'rumble') from affecting the cartridge/needle's tracking action in the record's groove.
