I have been trying desperately to replace two capacitors from a Pioneer RT 707 with out luck I have contacted the original manufacturer "Marcon Chemicon" they dont manufacturer them anymore and would not offer help as far as replacement I am hoping you would offer some insight. The two capacitors are from the Servo Amplifier Assembly (RWG-076) the engineer at Chemicon told me these are "Cylindrical Oil Filled Fim Capcitors" the markings are as follows:
Marcon
SH Cap
25MAL255UA
2.5uF
250 VAC
8D17

Marcon
Chemicon
AC125L6R8
6.8 uf
125 WVAC
20C8

I belive they are motor start motor run capacitors as the capstan motor starts on turn on but quickly stops any help would be greatly appreciated I am attempting to restore the unit myself I enjoy the work but on the other hand can't afford a proffessional rebuild at this time thanks.

Yes I have found some other Caps with very close to the same ratings but the type of capacitor was totally different way smaller these are round both are 1 inch in circumference one 1 X 2.5" the other 1 X 1.5" metallic cans did not know If that mattered as the new ones are way smaller round can types so does not matter as long as I match the farad/voltage?

I believe they are bad I have not checked them they are in the Servo Amplifer Assembly and thet are motor start/run capacitors and the capstan motor starts on turn on but stops very soon after doing research on this seems likely that they are the problem and the life of these type of caps fit with the age of the tape deck manufactured 1973 or so 30 some years not suprising they would be bad. I took a chance got a replacement board on ebay 20 bucks when it comes I am going to swap the caps and see what happens.
