Need help wiring a cartridge

wingzam

VIntage audio??
I have some friends who got an early 70's console stereo with the cartridge pulled out of the headshell and 2 of the 4 connectors missing.

I have scrounged up the connectors and installed them, the cartridge shows which side is left and right but not which prongs are positive and negative.

From what I've read the White wire is Left OUTPUT and the Black wire is Left GROUND.
The Red wire is Right OUTPUT and the Green wire is Right Ground.

If the above is correct can anyone tell me which prongs on this cartridge are positive and negative?

This is an Electro-Voice cartridge 239D for a General Electric turntable.

Thanks

For a removable headshell, the "typical" wiring is as follows - viewed from the wire side of the headshell connector:
Upper left = white
Upper right = red
Lower left = blue
Lower right = green

Again, this may vary depending on the model and make of the turntable.
