Need help with balanced cables.

I do have the phono situation settled and it sounds great. The tv, all I care about now is getting my tv audio to play through my entertainment system. I have a toslink cable running from the TV to the SAT jack on the MX136. I can hear audio through it, but the volume is way down. I have to turn the MC7205 past halfway up to hear it at low listening volume. Unfortunately this is needed because my preamp sends video through the HDMI cable, but not audio. Maybe I’ll see if my tv has a coax digital jack.

Some tvs have variable volume digital outputs. Check that on your tv. There may be a setting for fixed volume output also.

I’m not familiar with variable vol TV. I didn’t want to, but I’ll move speaker aside so I can get to the connections. I’ll see if there is a coax jack back there I’ll check to see if the variable vol is marked on there. I know from the tv I need to change the setting from tv speakers to audio system.

So tv speakers to audio system makes sense. Do you try turning up the volume on the tv while you were listening?

What i mean by variable volume is the tv can still be turned up and down controlling the volume level.

Ment to said variable volume digital outputs, not volTV. I fixed my previous post.

Once I switch from TV speakers to Audi system, the tv speakers are eliminated. I’ve done that before, but I can try it again. The numbers increase, but no change in volume. One thing I noticed. The only two HDMI cables from the tv are in inputs 2 and 3(arc), nothing is plugged into input 1, yet when I change inputs, when it gets to input 1, Google play comes on with rental movies and I can’t get rid of it, BUT the volume through the system is louder than the other inputs.

Did you find that for the TV, if so where did you find it in the settings, in the meantime I’ll go back and see if I can find it.

Okay I found where you were looking. Digital audio out. Was set to PCM. Digital audio out volume was half way. I increased it too the max and it is fine at 42% volume on the Mac. Pass through mode is off.

So you have plenty of volume now?

I changed from PCM to Auto 2 and volume increase to my desired level. Thanks for hanging in there for me. I wouldn’t have done it without ya!! I’m a happy camper!!
