need help with reel to reel player

hello all,i got a old reel to reel(penncrest 6433) from my brother&i could use some help.first thing i need help with is how do i get the play,fast forward,rewind knob off?i tried pulling up on it,prying gently up on it,didn't move any!don't want to pry to hard cause of plastic.i was able to see under the faceplate that the belt was broken.thats my second question,where can i get a belt for this?thanks in advance for any help.i also posted this in the tape forum with some pix.couldn't post them in this thread?

All belts and rubber wheels in such an old tape deck will need attention - if not replacement.

Check the knob for a set screw somewhere that is locking it in place.

thanks,i found the screw to take it off.now my question is does anybody know where i can get a belt for this?thanks in advance
 
You'll need to measure the old belts for the inside diameter of the belt loop and the diameter of the belt material, if it is round. Otherwise, if it is a flat belt, the width of the face.

Next, go over to the Tape forum and post those dimensions along with some pictures of the belts and any idler wheels you have. Those guys will know where to find parts.

I answered your post in the tape forum along with part numbers I found for the Rewind Belt and counter belt.
