Need Help with Rotel RSX-1067, auto surround mode when switching between sources?!

Hello,

For years I have been struggling with this issue, and any insight would be amazing.
The Rotel has a feature to allow your surround sound / speaker setting to automatically switch with your desired input.
I run my unit on 5 Channel Stereo (5 Ch Stereo) for every input. For some reason, the input that I have labeled "Apple TV", whenever you switch off it and go back to it, will only do a weird Dolby setting. It won't ever restore to 5 Ch Stereo, and it's the main use of this unit. I am wondering if anyone knows (1) Am I doing something wrong that this channel specifically won't switch or, more accuately, stayon 5 Channel Stereo and why it always goes over to Dolby and (2) Is there a way to get this thing to play fairly and always / continuously keep the unit on 5 Channel Stereo for every single input?

One other stupid question: I have some exterior Klipsch which I use to play music in our kitchen - I run it off the Zone amp. The unit gets quite hot when I do this. Does this mean I am not matching the Ohms ratings of these smaller speakers?

You'll have to check the setup menu to see if you can set a default processing mode.

That said, I think some units automatically go to a Dolby mode if it detects a Dolby encoded signal.

Far as the heat, it's doing additional work running more speakers so more heat isn't unusual. Do the nominal ohm ratings of the speakers fall within the recommended range given for the zone function?

Thanks for these responses. You might be right about the system detecting the Dolby signal. I’m wondering if I can cheat that in someway by running it through something to decode that? I actually haven’t taken the speakers down since I put them up, they’re high in the kitchen now to the wall and pointing down into the space. My assumption is they don’t match ohms
