Need help with speaker wire selection for marantz 4270

Good Evening,

I just purchased some slightly used speakers B&W 805's to pair with my marantz 4270. I was given some harmonic tech speaker wires i believe the gauge is somewhere between 12-14. I initially trim down the wires to shove into the back of the connecters but i didn't like this idea, cause there so thick. But it is working for now, however the manual says 18 gauge wire for speaker hook up. I purchased some banana connectors from amazon here. However even these wires are too thick.

Does anyone have any recommendations on some decent speaker wires i can use they can actually connect soldily .

Thanks richard

16g pure copper wire will fit the receiver connectors and all you probably need unless your speakers are over 50ft away. i use monoprice.com brand myself but any pure copper is fine. just stay away from cheaper wire brands like RCA which is actually copper clad aluminum which is probably fine on short runs but i dont trust it for my tube gear as aluminum resistance higher.
