I have a PX2 I got after having fallen in love with a PX3. These tables have now taken the place of my much higher end and much more 'respected' belt drive tables. The PX2 is giving me a bit of trouble and it is not the transport belt or anything related with it slipping. It works perfectly but it has an intermittent problem, when the problem strikes there are several things that happen:
1)The tonearm will not move to the right either with the right button or with the cut button. I have checked and double checked, when I hit the 'right' button the motor does not spin, so I know it is not the belt slipping. The motor for some reason is not getting the command to track to the right. The arm will still always move to the left.
2)When this problem strikes the arm will also not track for lack of a better term. When I play a record it will play and the arm will naturally follow the grooves to the left to the point where it looks all crooked and starts skipping, it will not respond to the angle sensor and move the arm left or right. If I hit the down button as if to play a record (but with no headshell) and I move the arm to the left or the right the carriage will not move left or right, as it normally would.
3)If I swap arm carriage with PX3 the PX3 still works flawlessly with the arm from the PX2 and the PX2 will intermittently fail even with the arm carriage from the PX3. This leads me to conclude that the problem resides in the main turntable boards and not the arm carriage and it's electronics.
I am stumped, I am assuming it could be some kind of logic control that is not working, but I do not have enough understanding to figure this out. I can also imagine some very old capacitors drying out and causing some kind of trouble but I don't know where to look. The problem is frustrating in that it is totally intermittent.
I would greatly appreciate any help from anyone on the forum that has any ideas. A special shoutout to Merrylander, I have read all the posts and he seems to be the most knowledgable on these tables.
