Need help working on a Pioneer C-5600 speaker

Hello, I am asking for help here because i'm trying to reach a Christmas deadline. Just recently, I bought a Pioneer C-5600 receiver with two speakers. When I got everything home, I plugged it in and found out that one of the speakers didn't work. The C-5600 unit is funky because it only works with the speakers that came with it. This is because each speaker has an amp in it, and receives a pre-amp signal from the receiver. When I turn the power on, the bad speaker makes a thump sound and lights up, but no other sound comes out. I'm assuming that the amp on the inside of the speaker needs work, but I don't know where to start. Any help is greatly appreciated! I would also be interested in simply buying another speaker or two if someone has speakers that they can't use. Thanks.

Good luck finding another speaker. Especially since it's an active one designed specifically for that receiver. I trust you already have tried the simple items such as
switching the speakers around, to see if the loss of sound moves to the other channel. From your description it appears as though the amp itself "may" be working, and there is simply a loss of input signal going to it, possibly due to a broken connection in the harness, between the receiver and speaker.
