Need Info on tuner

I can't find any information on the web for my TEAC AG 7000. Purchased overseas in the 70's. I had it cleaned and serviced three years ago by a shop in St. Louis and they said it was worth repairing. (If you make your money repairing vintage equipment I guess you say that about everything) The volume pot is giving me trouble. (Scratchy going up) is this an easy fix or is it back to a shop?

first try cleaning ...

If the scratchiness only recently developed, it is not unusual to require cleaning again. Especially if it had been stored unused.

I assume the scratchiness is only when turning the volume knob and it is quiet when you stop turning.

See the Deoxit thread sticky in General Audio. I use Deoxit D5 followed up with Faderlube on volume pots. There are others who use different formulations.

Cleaned the pots myself!!! Unit sound great. Bought contact cleaner from Radioshack followed direction from this site. Only problem was getting to the pots (had to go through the bottom). Cleaned every contact and switch while I had it open...sounds incredible! Thanks for the info!
