Hey guys,
I sold (on eBay) a gentleman a Luxman R-1050. (It is a 1050, not a 1060 as the title States) The unit worked well when I had it. He received it and is saying that it's going into protection around the 11 o'clock position on the volume dial. (I had it on a set of Prestige floor speakers that only have dual 4" drivers so I never played it that loud.) He's saying that it's occurring at a volume level that while loudish, isn't excessive and that the unit should be capable of it. If what he's saying is the case, and I have no reason not to believe him, I tend to agree.
I sold the unit as-is, but working with no returns. Which it DOES work. And he's wanting to return it.
I could be a dick and refuse. But I'm more inclined to not be. I like the guy, we've talked a lot back and forth. And I believe what he's telling me. I would rather pay someone up there to fix it. He took the case off and says that there's a couple of caps leaking, (Which makes sense) and that the only repair shop around there wants $100 to open it up and then charges from there. At that price I'd be better off to just accept the return.
He sent a picture and it appears to be one of the dime-nickel sized tan ones and possibly a (half a AAA battery sized) canned one. They both look to be relatively easily accessible.
Is there any of you, or do you know of anyone in the Crown Point Indiana area that would do the repair for a more reasonable amount? Should I just accept the return?
