I was wondering if I should give this any thought. I am just starting out and know nothing about test equipment. With that being said, would any of these items be of any use?

Three pieces of electronic test equipment: (1) B&K Model 3010 Function Generator, (1) Philips Model PM3055 50MHZ Oscilloscope and (1)
HP Model 332A Audio Distortion Analyzer. The Distortion analyzer has not been tested, so I don't know if it works (I don't have the power cord). The other pieces are in working order. The Oscillosscope is
dual-trace and comes with (2) Probes. $100.00-Take All.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!!

If you plan on doing some repairs and you want to learn and have the funds. The scope, yes, the generator, i would, the distortion analyzer , if it thrown in. The scope is probably worth the money alone.

I'm waiting to hear back from the seller of these. I really want to learn how to use a scope and plan on using it plenty once I learn. The other items are just a bonus!

Well, no call back...CL flakes. Anyway, how about this one? Also, are there any certain things i should be looking for in a scope?

Tektronix Model 2221 Digital 60mhz storage Scope
Older model scope still works.
Includes: 2) 10x and 1x probes, Scope table cart

$125.

Sorry I can't help you much as far as what you will need. I am not that good with my scope. But I will be glad to help you if I can.

The Tektronix scope sounds a little on the high side for me. A storage scope might be a little much to start off with. But on the other hand a Tektronix scope is a good one.

I have a B & K 1570A 100mhz 4 channel scope. I know just enough to get me by. I kept looking on craigs listand found mine for $100.00. They said it worked but when I got there it didn't work. I offered him $50.00 and he took it. The power cord was bad.

I guess what I am trying to figure out is if there are any scopes besides the Tektronix 465B that is useful with sound equipment that I should be on the lookout for. Is a higher Mhz rating better? Channels? are more better? Kind of a buyers' guide if you will. I think I am going to try and do a little more research on the net about the subject.

There are tones of scopes other than the Tek 465. In fact, I've seen more than my fair share of 465 dogs, where the display was fuzzy and dim. The CRT on the scope is an item that degrades with use. You want a fresh as possible tube.

Scopes that I've used and liked were:
hp DSO's
Hitachi
Kikisui
Leader
Panasonic
LeCroy

Then the not-so-much group
Sperry
Tenma
B&K
Heathkit
Philips

Your MHz is the response time the better. I would not go with a single channel I have used my 4 channel but use the two channels more often. Do your research on the net. Keep looking you will find a good scope at a good price.

Thanks you guys! Thank you very much Jon for the lists, that helps a lot.

Jon, are you the guy that is really good with Soundcraftsmen amps? I think it was your name I saw come up in a past search about soundcraftsmen?

If the HP 332A is like the HP333A, it uses an odd power cord which is difficult to find and expensive. I found it easy to replace the original socket with a IEC Socket

I found this today for $125. Its not on the terrible list, its digital and analog as well. I think i will call on it tomorrow.
