Need Plinth Building Advice - parts sources

Hi All

I have a nos still fresh in the box Technics SP-25 and I want to build a plinth for it. I really like the old school look of polished wood, with hinged dustcover and height adjustable feet (like my Denon DP-72L for example). I can handle the wood fabrication part but I just don't know where to go for sourcing the feet, hinges and dustcover. I suppose I could get a dustcover made from one of the ebay sources. Any suggestions for feet and hinges?

If you can get your hands on a Technics SH15B1/2/3 base/plinth with dustcover you will save yourself a good bit of frustration and exspence. If you build your own plinth for feet I'd recommend the SL1200Mk2 feet, Audio Technica feet that were used with the Audio Technica Pro Base (plinth) or feet from a large/heavy Denon, JVC or similar turntable. As for a dustcover unless you can find a used dustcover that will closely fit the plinth you build you will need to have a custom cover built and find hinges from a turntable that will fit/handle the weight of the dustcover. Between the feet, cover and hinges you could easly equal or surpass the cost of an original Technics plinth/dustcover/feet that IMO in the long run makes your SP-25 more valuable having all original Technics components. The SH15B1 plinth was the largest and most exspensive of the three Technics SP15/25 plinths with a fancier rosewood veneer that was more geared to the audiophile. The SH15B1 plinth also had a fancy smoked dustcover similar in design to the SP-10Mk2 dustcover. The SH15B3 all black plinth was probably intended for pro applications like recording studios/radio station production rooms and was built to the same high standard as the other two plinths. The SH15B2 plinth was slightly smaller than the SH15B1 and the same size as the SH15B3 black plinth, the SH15B2 was a simpler rosewood veneer finish. All three are quite substantial in weight and quality materials with a high level of design/finish that was expected with the Technics R&B (Recording & Broadcast) products. In some ways the SH15B1/2/3 plinths are better than the SP-10Mk2 plinths in that they don't suffer from cracks to the glass and the design is very similar useing some of the same materials.

I am familiar with the SH15 plinths. If I could order a nice one off of the net I would just do that. Unfortunately they are very hard to come by without a turntable already in it.
