Need power on switch for MC-2125

I have a mc-2125 amp with a broken power on/off switch. It is not broken off, it just kind of rotates. When I plug it in, the unit is on. I do not want to do any more than that until I get the power switch replaced. I called McIntosh labs and they do not have any parts. Does anyone have a source for repair or a switch that will work. I asked Terry DeWick and he did not have a switch either. Thanks for any help.

Well I guess these power on/speaker selector switches are virtually non-existant......but I did find out from Andy at audio-classics that the switch can be rebuilt for $100. I cannot justify that right now. I think I will do what others have done, and that is to jumper the switch closed and use a power strip to power it on and off.

Your post lacks specifics, you did tighten the nut that holds the switch in place against the metal plate behind the glass?

The original Alps switch had a molded nylon disk inside, they tend to brake due to the pressure from the crimp on the end of the shaft that goes threw it, no glue I know of will hold the nylon together. The only fix I know of is to get a long shaft pot with switch, cut the shaft like the original and modify the pot with a new end stop so that it only can use the switch. When done this way it will work like original and no one will ever know it was a cheap/used volume control from someones junk pile...

I have 2105 that the on/off switch went out on. Called Terry and was told about the obsolete situation. I called McIntosh about another thing I had going on and decided to try parts department about the switch. They told me that the power switch was not available but that the speaker on/off switch could be used to replace the main power on/off switch. Don't know if it applies to the 2125 but worth a call.

The speaker switch is the same part number as the power on/off switch. I will check to see if my switch is properly mounted. Thanks for the info.

On all of my old equipment I have stopped using the power/volume knobs to turn them on or off. That road only leads one place, to an eventually broken pot. So I leave all my receivers in the on position and use the power center to turn them on or off.

I can agree with Terry on this one. The power switch on my MC7270 died, I sent it off to Terry and he replaced the switch with one he had laying around. The amp works beautifully now and I can't tell it from the original.

I have MC2125 with broken power switch. Can use 2105 power switch to replace in 2125?. I also have another part number as shown in the pictures.
