Need some advice...

So I finally upgraded my ancient BDP from a 1st gen Sony unit to the Oppo 103. Popped in Skyfall last night and noticed it had the fancy pants new DTS Master HD track. Neat! Well, my receiver doesn't support it .

It's a Yamaha RX-V2700 from a few years ago. Great unit just a bit dated, I guess.

Anyway, should I take advantage of the multi channel analog out on the Oppo and the multi channel in on my receiver or would you just stick with the HDMI connection? Is the different between the legacy surround and HD formats noticable/worth it?

Hook up the analog outputs from the OPPO into the 7 channel inputs on the Yamaha and give it a try. The OPPO has all of the speaker level adjustments in the menu system. It can be a bit hard at first, but it doesn't take long to figure it out. You should use a sound pressure level meter to adjust the speakers properly.
