Need some info about old Monitor Audio MA800 Gold

Hello folks,
I'm new to the speaker world and I've stumbled across a pair of Monitor Audio MA800 Gold speakers for sale. I was wondering if anybody had any information about these speakers as it seems to be very scarce on the internet. I've got lots of questions!
Anyone have any specs, catalogs or manuals? Or even first hand experience of this speaker? I have a small room, about 2.5x5m, and would be using them for low volume listening. Obviously they would seriously benefit from a high quality source and components, but would these be fine running off a low end Sony MHC DP1000D (8 - 16Ω, 80 watts per channel), at least at low volume? In any case, I plan to upgrade to a modern AVR at some point.

I have attached an image below, do these look like ok condition to you? I'm slightly concerned about the right side of the surround on the left speaker, which looks like it might be peeling?

They are great speakers. Had the small bookshelf version and regret selling them

If these are priced right I would go for it.

Thanks for the reply! I'm not in the US, but they would be equivalent to around $210 USD including shipping.

1st hit on the internet I found:

The Monitor Audio MA800-Gold is a speaker that was developed in 1988 as a compromise between the MA700 and MA1200 models. It has a smooth frequency response and is known for its articulate midrange and non-fatiguing highs.

Features 1" ceramic-metallic composite dome tweeter, 6.5" polypropylene long-throw woofer, integral phase-plug, teak wood finish and dark brown grille cloth, and placement flexibility of a floor standing speaker.

Reviews

  • "Exceptional frequency linearity"
  • "Refined sound with great detail and truly exceptional imaging and depth"
  • "Transient performance was also very good, with percussion both quick and delicate"
  • "The shimmer of cymbals nicely defined, and string overtones very clean and sweet"
Additional information

  • The MA800-Gold was developed as a compromise between the smaller MA700 and floor standing MA1200
  • It has a smooth frequency response and is known for its articulate midrange and non-fatiguing highs

I did see that review - it seems like these were highly regarded in their time. However it unfortunately doesn't provide any specs like frequency response and particularly the ohmage.

Nice looking speakers. Looked up the Sony all in one mini system you mentioned. I doubt it will drive these speakers well. They deserve a better amplifier.

Hey guys, I'd asked for some more photos and it appears there is some sort of white substance on the dust cap. Should I be concerned? It also looks like the dust cap might be coming off/need regluing?
