Anyone with Speakerlab corner horn specs?

Sensitivity, dimensions, weight, and etc.

Also, any owner out there who has 'em biamped? or even triamped?
Thanks.

Great speakers! Specs and literature should be online via Google search. Do you have photos? They had different horns and tweeters depending on the exact version.

I don't have them right now. I used to own a pair back some years ago. Thinking about getting another pair but contemplating due to their size. If I do get another pair, I'll probably try active crossover, therefore searching for some opinions.
No published specs online. There are places where you can download manual with membership, but no openly posted specs.

Well dang, the Speakerlab website is unavailable. They had all the K info on there too. I'll hunt around, I could have sworn I downloaded the material.

The first Speakerlab catalog that gives any dimensions for the K is the 1976-77 catalog. It shows a weight of 220 lbs, 50-3/8" H x 32-1/4" W x 28" D. HT3500 tweeter, HM350b midrange and W1508S or W1504S woofer. Before 1976 the HM350 midrange is shown. After 1977 the WA4000 tweeter is shown with the same cabinet dimensions. Crossover points for all versions are shown as 400hz & 5000hz.

The 1980 catalog is the last one that shows the K. That one shows that the midrange horn is 17" x 6", the tweeter horn ("Wave Aperature") is 8-1/4" x 4" (the same that is used in the S6WA and S7WA), 101db sensitivity with a power rating of 10w to 250w and a weight of 225lbs, same cab dimensions as the earlier models.

Sorry, that's the best that I can do for you.
James

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
So, moving them by myself is probably not an option? :) 225 lbs per speaker?!

I'd like to hear from anyone who's biamping them. I had great success biamping Altec two way speaker systems with active crossover. Not sure how it'll work for 3 way corner horns.

Sure, one person can move them. Just get a decent hand cart with good sized wheels. I usually gorilla tape some padding all around the cart, like cardboard and a big towel, so it doesn't scratch the wood. The top hats come off easily. Just use some flattened cardboard and a blanket or towel to place down on the edge of your vehicle, and carefully tilt the speakers into the edge, lift and heave them up. Slide in, making sure you have some other blankets or just a big rug or carpet in the bed of your vehicle. It can be done with one one person. When unloading, place some cardboard on the ground as you slide them out, so they don't scrape the finish.

FYI I had a pair of speaker lab corner horns stacked without the tops for my first horn loaded subs around 20 years ago,I triamped the system with electronic crossover,I used a rane which had a time delay, they were fantastic
Of course I wanted more lower distortion lower bass so I ended up with 4 folded subs that I corner loaded
The guy that brought the speakerlab corner horns used some altec multicell horns to fantastic sound he also biamped them with a Marchand crossover with multiple set monoblocks
I only sold them as I only had one real corner.

I bi-amped my friend's pair (after I built and sold them to him), using a passive line-level crossover, in addition to the passive speaker-level crossovers.

I agree about the delay, and would love to hear a pair with it done. It would be nice to compare delay-on vs. delay-off, too.

absolve2525, thanks for the pointer on how to move 'em. That will definitely help.

Good to hear success with bi/triamping. I have a few rane active crossovers with time delay function. If I do decide to get a pair, I'll definitely go that route.

I have a pair of K's and love them !! See my avatar . Using EV HR90 mid horns with the Atlas drivers and EV ST350A tweeters. they are Bi-amped using an EV Tapco EX18 crossover and an Audio source Amp Three 100 WPC for the bass and a Dynakit ST70 for the mids and hi's. The system is total overkill for the 12x15 room its in but it sounds incredible to me even after around 15 years. JOHN

I have Speakerlab Khorns from 1978. They have the HT 350 and HM 350B, and used to have the W1504S woofer. I took the woofer out of the bass bin and built a 5.6 cu. ft. ported bottom cabinet in the shape of the top that holds the mid and tweeter. I added a 2x8 in the rear of the top cabinet and mounted the tweeter driver aligned with the mid driver. I am currently tri-amping them with a Hafler 9300 for bass, either a Lazarus H1-A or Hafler 270 for mid, and Van Alstine modded ST-70 for the tweeter. I use a Rane AC23 for the active crossover. This week, I replaced the W1504S woofers with Goldwood GW-14PC-4 woofers, and extended the 4 inch ports to 4.5 inches.

Kind of late to the party but I just added the top speakers yesterday. Both are Super K's. (meaning they have the Electro-Voice T350 tweeters instead of the T35 or Speakerlab HT3500) Makes a huge difference if you have never heard them. This setup fills up the room with sound pretty good. The diagram has weight and other specs. Jim

Nice. I have never seen stacked corner horns. Have you considered inverting the top pair so the mid and high drivers are closer together? I would want to try that myself if I had 4 of them stacked, except it's probably just too big of a pain in the butt to do it.

If they're anything like the K's I picked up 6 weeks ago, those top hats would not be able to support the bass bins weight without some modifications. It would collapse in the back.

There is plenty of space to add a short 2x4 on each side of the mid horn between the top and bottom of the mid/tweeter "top hat".
