So I’m learning here...I started reading about integrated amps and high sound quality. Since I don’t use TV, only music I was very interested. Eventually I got sold on the PM6006 during a blind listening test at a friends. I checked out the Yamaha a-s501 and the pm6006. Everything I read was true about Marantz having warmth, musical, and had a substance.
So I’m at a multiple cross roads.
1. Is it the pm6006 (or 6005) that had the excellent sound I heard? Or does any Marantz have this sound I like. Does the 5.1, 7.1, NR,SR surrounds, NR1200, NR1509 have it or is just the PM series integrated amps?
2. My setup is 4 speakers played out of a 2 channel a+b amp. I see the NR1509 is less cost and more options...I see it’s a 5.1 though. Would this amp have same quality as the pm6006? (And good SQ if I played in a multi stereo setting to get the four to play as mains.
3. would the nr1200 be an option and have same sound quality I’m looking for that I heard in the pm6006?
4. I know this is COMMONLY debated and discussed about low wattage vs high...voltage etc. and I get it. I come from cheap receivers with high watts. But this is another cross in my roar... I see how the marantz have amps with low watts or more for much more $$...so with this pm6006, would my setup be powered by it ok?
I’m running 4 speakers (pair with of Q150’s and a pair of something similar to kef q950).
So yeah. Thanks for listening!
I gotta get this amp figured out before Christmas so any help is appreciated. Haha.
