Need to get a Dynakit ST-70 powered up?

I have a Dynakit ST-70, and would like to find a place in the Atlanta Metro area to get it checked out and powered up. I was given this unit, and know next to nothing about it except that I shouldn't just plug it in and turn it on. (Yes, it's a newbie asking) All advice is welcome.

Thanks!

P.S. I was also given an Accuphase DC-81 if anyone out there knows a place to have it checked out.

I believe Gordon W is in that area. He'd have the equipment neccesary to fire that up to make sure its not going to blow up. If it needs work, he's also equipped and experienced to take care of that too.

Congratulations, an ST 70 is a great way to get into tubes. Good call on not firing it up. Unknown tube amps should be brought up slow with a variac. At a minimum, you should replace the selenium rectifier with a diode, and the can cap with a new one.

Lots to read up on on the web. If your 7199 tubes test good, listen to it stock for a while.
