Need to thin the herd

Speaking of letting go...

Why didn't anyone tell me this is a painful process? Look at all that pretty wood...

I too have a difficult time letting go, sometimes it is about the wood. As far as advice goes I would list all for sale (on craigslist) and respond to most interested / interesting party.

Otherwise, like someone else mentioned, keep the Magnapans and sell the rest...the A-25's will be moving in. And I'm pretty sure you will pick up a few more pairs of speakers in the near future. +1. If you have a local craigslist, list them all except for the Maggies and Dynacos. It will help you gage if there is any interest in the brands/models that you are considering for cull. It can also show the wife that you are making a good faith effort to thin the herd. Sometimes I just donate speakers to the local charity thrift store to free up space and generate karma.
 
What you need to do, is what I do.. Grab those Dynacos Boldly firmly Bring them right into the house plunk them down in the living room, hook them up to your best amp, crank them up as loud as you want. To heck with what anyone else says or thinks! Darn it, it's my house I'll do as I please with my speakers and my house.

Then after you give them a good listen and decide about them. Very quickly run them back out to the trunk and hide all signs you did anything.. jump on the couch with a magazine pretending you are reading, cuz the misses will be home in 5 minutes!
 
Another vote to keep the Maggies and A-25s. Why not let your wife vote from the others? Tell her you know you have too many speakers and want her to be happy with your hobby etc... and see what she would pick to give up. You might get an answer, pique her interest, and score some points at the same time.
 
Ok. Have a solution. Some stuff went for sale... some became part of my 7.1 HT system - "But, honey, why did I pay all this money for the receiver and not have it do all it can do?"

Then I put on some of her fave music in 7.1 channel stereo... She acquiesced :)

A guy bought some gear from me a while back and had a really creative turn on how to collect audio gear, I'll share: What he did was buy some of the better vintage stuff that he liked and parcelled it out to friends and relatives. He placed the caveat that it was not to be sold or given away without his knowledge. The folks that received the gear all agreed and were happy to have some quality equipment. The owner was happy because he didn't need to store most of it and everytime he visited his friends and relatives that had his stuff, he could listen to it.
Maybe the OP has some deserving friends or relatives that could use a pair of speakers? Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've done exactly that! In fact, my brother is currently enjoying my cr-2020 I bought awhile back without even seeing it, and I still haven't seen it! It's running a pair of BA that only spent a month or so in my house before I loaned them to him for the 2020.
