Neil Young Recordings

I am thinking like some of my friends maybe the OP wants overly (IMO) processed recordings, any tape hiss, amplifier hum etc and a few of them think it’s a crap recording.

And that is all good cause we like what we like :bigok:

I agree that Mirrorball sounds pretty bad, but I like it. Zuma has a thin sound that really needed a remix but it's his best record for me. Broken Arrow sounds a bit rough as well. All the others I have sound good enough.

I would love to hear Neil's take on this. There may be albums that he would say could have been recorded better. But to say his whole catalog is bad.:thumbsdown::no:

Interesting take. An inferior recording in my opinion is flat muddy sound. A blur of instrumentation. I'm not great with descriptive words here perhaps but I am intrigued that so many are disagreeable regarding my musical preferences. Was it the word ****? I'll search for a remastered disc and see if my opinion is swayed. To be fair I have not listened to every recording Neil Young has put out. I'll also steer clear of broad generalizations in future opined reviews. Well, maybe not. I've also experienced some degree of difficulty finding Grateful Dead recordings that aren't um...caca. Oops, Go To Heaven was pretty crisp as I recall.

We all like what we like. And my only point of reference is his “early” stuff pre-Trans so around 1982, and they are all originals, before he started doing digital so maybe it’s that :dunno:
