I've had various Technics linear tracking turntables since the '80s, but this one is my favorite -- for looks and functionality. It's a 1981-1983 Quartz direct-drive SL-7 -- metal plinth, not plastic -- with a Shure P-mount elliptical-stylus cartridge. No, she doesn't sound quite as good as the vintage Thorens 160 next to her, but I'll bet she would if you could find a top-tier T4P cartridge to fit her.

And, no, she didn't come with neon trim. That's just a carryover from another thread for "artsy" gear photos.

I use a black shure p mount (yeah in not sure which... A pro something?) and a... Wait for it... An older, Shure (white, looks like an n111e) stylus with a brush. Yep. You can adjust the tracking force on this table, but the 1.25g is right at the bottom of the recommended force, 0.75g + 0.5g for the brush. Rests on the acrylic when at rest, but fits and sounds really nicely.
