After shipping and taxes, I probably paid too much, but I am a big 2275 fan and was really itching for something to work on. I was a bit skeptical about having something like this shipped across county. The box was not impressive, but it worked.

Cosmetically it looks great. The faceplate had no scratches but was slightly bent on upper left corner. Not sure if this happened during shipping or was there already.

I took off top cover and was skeptical as the screws were not factory. However, the inside was very clean. No corrosion on the chassis and looks all original to me.

Plugged it in with a DBT and no major shorts. I send some music through it and its all there. The pots are very scratchy and no indicator lights working. I plan on recapping the power supply, power amps, tone and phono boards. Of course add some new lights. I am not intending on touching the AM and FM boards, mainly because I really don't listen to the radio that much anymore. Sign of the times I guess.

A few questions for you guys. First, is the consensus to always change out the main filter caps? Also, same question for the amp output transistors. These appear to be original. Would you change them out as part of the recap job? Thanks for looking.

That bent faceplate corner should have been evident in the auction pics. I wouldn’t let that slide. That’s a great receiver and deserved a better packing job.
 
Output transistors do not tend to wear out like capacitors and other components unless the amp has overheated. Some small signal transistors that get noisy yes, TO3 cased outputs there is no reason to change.

If someone at some point changed outputs on one side which I see often then I may offer to replace all with modern ON Semi devices.

The pics for the auction were not very good in general and I did not bother asking any questions. So that's on me. It definitely deserved a better packing job for what they charged for shipping. Other then bent corner, very clean faceplate and top cover. No scratches, bent pots, or dents in top cover. Light dust on inside and no rust. It could have been worst.

I suppose it's up to the owner if they want to change them. Power outputs of this kind generally don't degrade with age, but they will have to take them out to refresh the heat sink compound anyway so....

I am leaning towards leaving them in. They appear to be original, match, and are working. I changed out the other ones since they did not match. Thanks.
 
You should remove the faceplate and, in between 2 pieces of clean or masking-taped wood in a vise to fix that bent corner.
 
Shame about the bent corner. If this is a keeper unit you can buy a replacement face plate.

E-Bay has its good and bad points. Good point, Today I bought a 2330B manual that I have been trying to find for years. If it was not for E-Bay I never would have found one. Bad point, recently bought a part from a dishonest seller who had volume pot replacements, stay tuned don’t want anyone to go thru the same scam I did :-(.

Yes. I feel the same way about eBay. But the fact of the matter is, vintage audio receivers are difficult to come by. Without eBay, offer up, or craigslist, I wouldn’t really know where else to look for them. I just don’t have the time to go to multiple estate or garage sales. I have actually gone to a few local Goodwill stores hoping to get lucky. But no luck so far. I am always curious where other people find these units. And the shipping prices for these heavy units really stings.
