New acquisition - Oracle Delphi

I picked up this turntable the other day. I didn't know that much about them until I saw the ad and did a search.

It took some time to get it set up properly, but after a lot of fiddling with the suspension, it's up and running and sounding terrific.

It came with a Linn Basik LV X arm. The table is in nearly pristine condition, only a couple very minor scratches on the dustcover.

I bought it as a package, someone's entire vintage sound system. 2 Klipschorn's, Carver M-500 amp, Carver C1 pre-amp and an Audiocontrol Ten equalizer.

I am super impressed with this turntable, it's now my daily driver. I had a headshell that fits it, Stanton 881s on one and whatever cartridge I like that day on the other one.

Here are some pics.

Oracle is a nice TT. One time I considered getting noe. What generation is it? You may think aviut getting better arm. SME V would be a nice addition.

Now that's the right kind of vintage, in my book! Sure, the Pioneer receivers and BIC turntables sound OK, but this is something special.

Yes, it certainly is some special stuff. Better than anything I've ever had. To be honest, I was most interested in the turntable, but it was being sold as a package. I originally planned to re-finish the speakers and sell them as I don't have the space upstairs for them. But I have them set up in my basement, and once you listen to a set of speakers like that it becomes hard to part with them. I think I may end up selling some other equipment that I have instead.

I'm also really impressed with the Carver amp and pre-amp that I got in the deal. That is a nice sounding setup. It has too much power for the K-horns IMO. I connected the K-horns to my NAD 3140 that has a whopping 40 wpc, and it's plenty. The Carver stuff is connected to my Technics SB-8000 speakers and I think it's a perfect match, the sound is incredible.

The turntable is wonderful. I couldn't be happier with it. I just need to get used to it being manual. Can't fall asleep, LOL.

I had a Carver set up for awhile & I was real happy with it. Its a brand with fierce loyalists & equally fierce detractors - and a really fun story to go with it all.
