New Brian Eno Album

I haven't heard much of his stuff, but I really liked his collaboration with the talking heads front man David byrne on " My life in the bush of ghosts album"
Can anyone recommend what they consider an excellent album by Eno for me to check out?

This depends - do you want to hear his earlier rock-oriented music, or the minimal/ambient material that the bulk of his catalog comprises?

Rock/pop:
Here Come The Warm Jets

Pop but becoming much more experimental:
Another Green World

And after all that, the ambient works, which started with a four-part series. I recommend starting with this one:
Ambient 4: On Land

I consider those three essential if you want to get into Eno, especially the latter two. In my opinion Ambient 4 is one of the greatest minimal/ambient albums ever recorded, and that's a type of music I own a lot of. Another Green World is amazing too, although very different from the Ambient series. Someone also wrote a short book for that 33 1/3 series about Another Green World that sheds a lot of light on the process of writing and recording the album, all of which was rather unusual.

I haven't heard Lux yet but I'll definitely be checking it out soon.

I like a lot of the production he did on other artists albums, i really like his ideas and writings about music and sound but I just can not get myself to like his own music for some reason , i dont know why :)

I agree with Mr. Lin, Another Green World is where to start.

Ambient 4 is excellent, but I seem to turn to Ambient 2 more often. I think it has a more optimistic (for lack of a better word) tone and 4 is darker.

You may also enjoy his other collaboration with Byrne Everything that Happens Will Happen Today.

Alienz: I see where you're coming from. There's a lot more about Eno to enjoy than just his music. I especially enjoy his production for Talking Heads and his contributions on a few Bowie albums.

Discussions about Eno are like discussions about Zappa - they were around for a long time, they were prolific, and they evolved, unlike some of their fans (and I know that nobody on AK is like that). Always a pleasure to know that Eno has something new for me to discover.

Less than a minute to air time. One of my submitted photos made it into live website...that was exciting.

Of the ambient series I like #1 Airports best. My favorite Eno production (even more so than the U2 stuff) is Geoffery Oryema's "Exile" from 1990. Ugandan folk music meets ambient. Spectacularly recorded at Peter Gabriels Real World studio, it's a classic. A few of these songs made it onto that "Sold Only On TV" compilation CD "Pure Moods".

I've found myself listening to Michael Brook - Hybrid a lot lately. Eno did a lot on that album other than just co-producing with Brook and Lanois.

I agree Ambient 4 is dark, certainly the darkest of the four in that series. I love Everything That Happens..., I should have included that one in my last post.

His production work is vast and varied. He contributed to some of Slowdive's Souvlaki album, which is another amazing work.

I wrote down the date for the live broadcast of the new Eno on that site so I could submit a picture or two, and just now I realized it was this past Saturday! :sigh:

I'll listen to that link. I adore Warm Jets, Another Green World, Tiger mountain and Music For Films.

Eno is a randy genius.
